Why Do Female Singers Wear No Pants?
62Have you noticed how many female singers/performers don't wear any pants? I have and I am having trouble understanding why more and more of them seem to be dancing in their underwear. Madonna, Beyonce, Pink,Shakira and others just perform in their undies. Do they have to dance and sing in their knickers for anyone to appreciate their music? I mean when Cher did it, and then Madonna, I thought it was just some ageing female performer thing, but now it is just plain ridiculous. I do remember watching MTV and other music shows and the women wore clothes and I still thought they were beautiful women.
Music is music. Singing is singing. You can either sing or you can't. People should be listening and watching your performance because you can actually sing or play an instrument. Not because you put your breasts or butt or legs out for everyone to see.
I hope this fad doesn't last forever. There is no problem with being attractive and healthy and sexy. The problem is that young guys and girls watch, they admire these people, they aspire to be like these people, and they try to emulate these people.
I would love to know what other people think about the pantless performers.

I think you made some excellent points. While some of the woman you mentioned are attractive, and more likely to catch someones attention without there pants, I agree that they are sending the wrong message. Thanks.
To be quite honest I've never noticed :-)
Great hub you have made a good point. they could show more talent instead
...gee I wish all of these female singers could write as good as you .....
I went to see Lady Gaga in concert, and it was just aweful. She does have a good voice, but the screetching across the stadium she did was ridiculous and of course in her underpants no less. i mean she could do another name change and change her "band" to "The Thunder Pants".
I was embarassed, i wonder if anyone else noticed she was in her underwears the whole entire show.
If I had a mega phone with me I would have told everyone during a quiet part of the show "Hey! She forgot to put on her pants!"
I want to be an actress/singer, but this isn't the kind of pressure I think people should be under to be successful.
"If you've got it, flaunt it", fine... but you can show off your assets in a classy way. It's not even like all their outrageous outfits are practical.
I'm only 16, so I feel like I'm one of few people my age who think this and it's irritating.

Hi, They drive me mad!! I quite agree with everything you say. I have been saying the same thing for ages. I always say, you can tell a good singer, because they stand still, or sit and sing. Not wave their arms and legs around in their undies!! Yeah, someone agrees with me!! cheers Nell
ps. I like Metal music, I can't see Mettalica doing it......
